he Twin Carby is indeed a left of centre after thought, but saying that it is hard to stuff up with twin fin designs since they are always going to be fast and loose, no matter what you do with their designing. I have always maintained that whatever goes on behind the fins can only propel them even faster without tightening them up since they are the shortest arc board known to man by nature.

PLANSHAPE
With the plan shape of this design there is really nothing new. Area forward, straighter plan in the back half running into a small release flyer set in line with the rear base of the fins and an aggressively deep and pulled in swallow tail at the pod. This Twinny is indeed veering toward a performance design since the swallow is pulled into approximately only a 7” from tip to tip, whereas many cruiser types have much wider arses than this. Another reason is that the lifting force of the double barrel concave is not going to want to sit down if it is too wide, particularly at speed.

ROCKER
Being a Twin Fin the rocker is naturally tempered and this model follows suit with a low entry and minimal flip in the tail.

BOTTOM SHAPE
Well, this is where it gets interesting! The bottom of the nose has a soft roll running down about 12” for a little bit of safety, because of the outboard motor at the back, not unlike the hull on most power boats. This then twists into a moderate concave through the guts and then transforms into an aggressive vee where the double barrel concave is placed running about 23” up from the tail. Theory behind this is that regardless how dominating the double barrel concave becomes it will always be tempered by the tipping nature of the vee it sits into. Another reason why I have also narrowed the tail somewhat. In addition, because the double barrel is defined by an edge around its circumference sitting inside the rail edge, there will naturally be extra turbulence which is a reaction to the excess lift that will be going on. Large twin fins will of course veto any loss of control caused. All in all a bottom shape that will excite.!

RAILS
As in most of my Twin Fin designs I like to keep them more chunkier than their thruster counterparts in order to give them extra drive. In this model I have particularly focused on reducing this boxiness toward the tail where all the lifting is going on so I have purposely lowered and knifed out the last 18” of the rail so it will behave itself when more reach is desired.
