INTRO
Perhaps the most surfed archipelago in history Indonesia is the most reef wave rich country in the world and the world knows it! Having said that the lure is still too great and that is why this model is dedicated to these hollow reef waves.
PLAN SHAPE
This model is a five-fin rounded pin tail which is designed to be a compromise for a thruster set up to a quad. The real compromise is basically in the outline with balancing the tail area so it is not too wide for three fins and not too narrow for a quad set up. At the other end it is common for most big wave boards to be forward centric which helps the board drive longer distances as the narrower tail can be held to account. Area forward also helps paddle in - something you will not want to go without, particularly with a hungry reef hoping for some of your water softened flesh. It goes to common sense that too much width puts too much pressure on the fins so although not as narrow as its predecessors I have kept this facet to a minimum.
BOTTOM SHAPE
Nothing has really changed here in that the fully proven con – vee bottom shape is hard to ignore for front foot speed and back control. One of the huge benefits from this bottom shape is the increased rail rocker through the centre of the board making it very forgiving when on a rail projecting turn. The vee in the back half releases lifting pressures and allows it to sit down and behave.
RAIL AND ROCKER
Indo waves are vastly different to Hawaiian waves in that they are a lot cleaner on the face and not as rough and roar as those that hit the North Shore. This is why we can lower the rails so they have better penetration and hold to the face since it is more often than not super clean on the face.
Tail rockers in these conditions does not need to be too curvy since the waves possess very long walls say like G Land, so excess rocker may not get you there. Hawaiian waves demand rocker since their power is double that of Indo waves so more forgiveness needs to be built in by thickening rails and adding rocker.
