INTRO
The Quatro is proud to be a quad fin only. It is now time to be not afraid to make and ride designated quad designs without having to compromise the design in order to facilitate a thruster option. Quads light up with more area forward and don’t need an abundance of tail lift in order to turn easily as does the thruster. So, keeping in mind this design is through and through the not a compromise.

PLANSHAPE
The Quatro Swallow tail has more area forward in order to give it more drive, reach and paddle ability. Being a quad, you no longer have to have you heal sitting on the pod as the Trailor fins are further forward than a tri centre fin so you have more sway over the wider nose. The wider nose will help paddle so much so you can entertain the notion of going shorter meaning the wider nose is even closer to your surfing position. A small flyer punctuates a straightish outline in the back half and effectively reduce the width of the swallow allowing it to sit down better at higher speeds. All in all, the quad design plan shape wise is very similar to the twin fin and belongs in the same family with a few minor differences.

ROCKER
Quad fins have more fins in the water and as a result are not as east-west loose as a Twinny. Even though they both do not have any centre fin influence a quad will need a little loosening up due to the extra 2 fins so adding a little more tail rocker than the Twinny is a way to do this.

BOTTOM SHAPE
The Quatro being a Quad has speed to burn so even though it sports a concave through the guts it also has a long deepish vee in the last third allowing it to tip easily from rail to rail at high speeds with less body weight encouraging smoother transitions and last-minute corrections. High performance thrusters commonly have their concaves running right through the bottom and out the tail to keep them running since they have more rocker to contend with which will push more water.

RAILS
Rail thicknesses in Twin Fins and Quads should hold more volume in order to give them less immersion and therefore more drive. They have an abundance of east west particularly the Twin so keeping meat in the rail will help get you there without stifling your turning radius.

FINS
Being a swallow which has a ton of bight it is wise to keep your Trailor Quad small otherwise together with the swallow the big Trailor’s will hold to the face too much and stifle your release in and out of turns.
